A question for Christians (God & your connection wih him)?

i believe that certain people have psychic powers because I used to know a lady who had this ability but she never required any money from anyone as she was deeply religious and was even hired by the police. she has recently ped away. i remember, she would close her eyes and connect to a higher power (I guess God or an angel or something like that) so my question is how do you connect with God and how does he answer you. i try to do the same thing she does but i never get any reply, :) how does God answer you. do you just pray or do you have questions too. thanx
